Born in Langley and raised in Surrey, British Columbia, I have always been interested in news. At a young age, my family would often find me reading the local newspaper and watching news broadcasts, trying to absorb the most relevant stories of the day. I also wondered about the people behind the pages or screen, believing them to be some of society’s most critical figures, informing us about our world and how it continues to change to this very day.
Journalism and communication are a vital component in how we perceive the communities that we live in. I knew that the journalism industry was something I wanted to be a part of. Whether through writing, speaking, or being behind the scenes directing the operation, I knew it would be a challenging and rewarding experience.
I have worked to define and refine my expertise in technology and media. My time at the BCIT Broadcast and Online Journalism program has been instrumental in teaching me the necessary skills to thrive in this industry and what is expected to be a multimedia journalist and storyteller. I am proud to currently be working at Global BC, a dominant force in local news for my home province. My prior education at Simon Fraser University also prepared me well, as I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in June 2021.
In addition, my love for sports has no bounds, which has led me to write stories and create projects in this area of passion. My ultimate career goal would be to work in the sports media industry, using my voice for events or storytelling in the ever-expanding podcast medium.
